Job summary

Bristol, North Somerset and South Gloucestershire ICB is looking for a new Operational Director of Finance. Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, Sarah Truelove, this is a pivotal role within the CFO's Leadership team, leading the operational finance function and supporting the delivery of the ICB's aims and improvements in health outcomes, reducing inequality and improving value. The role also acts as Deputy CFO.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will lead the Finance Directorate and continue to develop the team to ensure we can deliver good financial management information to support evidence-based decision making, ensuring that we have a strong control environment and effective financial services. Responsible for ensuring the ICB has financial reporting, systems and processes to meet the needs of external and internal stakeholders. You will have a positive attitude towards performance improvement and driving sustainable change.

  • CCAB Qualified and experience at senior management level in finance, preferably NHS or public sector
  • Educated to masters level or equivalent level of experience of working at a senior level in specialist area.
  • Extensive knowledge of specialist areas, acquired through post graduate diploma or equivalent experience or training plus further specialist knowledge or experience to master's level equivalent
  • Significant evidence of post qualifying and continuing professional development
  • Must have an understanding of the background to and aims of current healthcare policy and appreciate the implications of this on engagement
  • Should have an appreciation of the relationship between the Department of Health, NHS England and individual provider and other commissioning organisations
  • Member of relevant professional body
