Job summary
In Surrey Heartlands we have centralised wound management procurement, which enables us to maximise the opportunities for wound product optimisation.
We are looking for a motivated and experienced pharmacy technician with advanced clinical and business skills to lead onthe business intelligence and relationships for the supply, optimisation and governance of wound products across all Primary Care users in Surrey Heartlands.
The post-holder will be based within the Medicines Resource Unit (MRU) which is the clinical co-ordination hub for Pharmacy and Medicines Management. This specialised role within the MRU has a specific focus on leading the business intelligence and operational strategy for the optimisation and governance of wound products across all Primary Care users in Surrey Heartlands.
The post holder will be working autonomously, under the clinical and managerial direction of a Tissue Viability Nurse (TVN) and will be leading on the operational and business optimisation of product procurement, ensuring appropriate governance is maintained.
This pharmacy technician post will also include work with other projects regarding prescribable devices and other clinical MRU workstreams, subject to available capacity.
Main duties of the job
- Leading on the development and maintenance of robust information systems and reporting tools to provide the required business intelligence and analysis to support wound product optimisation and supply governance.
- Key liaison with the products provider and the order platform provider to enable seamless provision of products. The post holder will work to resolve any issues with orders, deliveries, and supply shortages, and escalate any problems which cannot be resolved.
- Investigate any areas of unexpected expenditure and escalate any unresolved issues to maintain supervision of product use.
- Working with the Surrey Heartlands Lead Tissue Viability Nurse and local clinicians, providing operational leadership, in the developments of lymphoedema, podiatry, cancer, and children's wound product sections to the Surrey Heartlands Wound Formulary
- To be a Medicines Management facilitator for the Wound Management Formulary Group. This will require collaborative working and relationship building across organisations to co- ordinate meetings and engage participants.
