Job summary

An exciting opportunity as arisen within the NHS North East London Chief Nursing Officer Department where we are looking to recruit to the Director of Allied Health Professionals (AHP) role.

As part of the Chief Nursing Officer's leadership team you will be responsible for:

  • Developing and enabling the delivery of the strategic vision around the AHP priorities across the Integrated Care System
  • Leading the development and delivery of agreed collective priorities of the ICS for the AHP workforce
  • Supporting the Chief Nursing Officer and the Chief Medical Officer in the development and delivery of the long-term clinical and care strategy of the Integrated Care Board (ICB),
  • Enabling a greater voice and visibility of the AHP workforce and their contribution to system wide challenges and opportunities

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an exceptional candidate that has a highly specialist set of leadership abilities and skills, with experience of working at a senior level with strategic partners from across health, social care and education systems.

You will be a dynamic, proactive and delivery focussed person who will be supported to thrive.

Essential

  • Degree/higher qualification or equivalent experience
  • Masters or other post-graduate Qualification, e.g., MBA (or equivalent) OR relevant on job experience
  • Registered AHP via the Health and Care Professional Council (HCPC)
  • Evidence of continued professional development
  • Further evidence of management qualification or training

Knowledge & Experience

Essential

  • Substantial very senior/ board level AHP multi-professional and multi-disciplinary leadership with health or care experience and/or system leadership experience within a regulatory or similar environment is essential
  • Experience of managing highly sensitive situations with stakeholders
  • Experience of providing mentorship, and professional development at a senior level with demonstrable outcomes
  • Exceptional communication skills that engender community confidence, strong collaborations, and partnership
  • Experience of strategically developing AHP services across a system or within a Provider to improve the quality of patient care

Skills & Abilities

Essential

  • Ability to think and act strategically and to articulate a clear sense of direction and vision to a wide audience
  • Ability to build effective relationships with a range of stakeholders and in a complex environment
  • Experience of producing board level reports and documents
  • Ability to understand the challenges that face the nursing and AHP profession and identify possible solutions
  • Fully understand the regulatory environments across the health economy
  • Clinically credible and feel comfortable being on the front line with staff, working within your scope
