Job summary
NHS Sussex Medicines Optimisation Team is
ambitious and forward thinking, striving to ensure that the patient is always
at the heart of everything we do. The team, as part of the shared management
team across Sussex, is responsible for providing strategic and operational
level advice and support in all matters regarding prescribing and Medicines
Optimisation (MO). The team works to address MO and service development issues
in partnership with other organisations across all local health and social care
interfaces.
We are seeking a highly motivated and
experienced pharmacist leader who is interested in a role that involves
strategic leadership, innovation, operational delivery, partnership working and
people development. This is an exciting opportunity to provide expert strategic
leadership in the delivery of the NHS Sussex Primary Care engagement and
Pharmacy Workforce programme.
This
role will work with the existing team of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians
to deliver the local medicines optimisation strategy, including current NHS
England priorities, as part of overall population health management across
Sussex.
Main duties of the job
The
successful candidate will lead on NHS Sussex primary care engagement programme
supporting design and implementation of primary care pharmacy workforce
development and delivery of the MO priorities to improve population health
outcomes. They will be responsible for the strategic support for pharmacy
workforce development across the Integrated Care Board (ICB) and lead for the
training and development to ensure the Pharmacy workforce is fit for purpose
across the ICB. The post holder will work closely with senior leaders across
the Integrated Care System and all pharmacy sectors from each of the three
places in Sussex.
The post holder will
be expected to work with a high degree of autonomy, accountability, and
responsibility to build relationships across Sussex. They will report directly
to the Associate Director for Medicines Optimisation West Sussex.
The
post holder will be able to work agilely as part of the organisations Smarter
Working programme. This may include, but is not limited to; home, and office
working as appropriate, though the post holder will be expected to travel
within Sussex, and neighbouring areas as required.

- Experience of multidisciplinary working
- Experience of working in at least one other pharmacy sector

- Commissioning expertise in healthcare environment
- Experience and/or understanding of the Health Economy
