Job summary

NHS Sussex ICB Medicines Optimisation team are looking for enthusiastic, self-motivated pharmacy technicians with excellent interpersonal / IT skills and the ability to work with competing priorities and demand.

The key focus of the role will be to support the delivery of our medicines optimisation work plan. Working with stakeholders to optimise medicines to enhance prescribing quality, safety, patient concordance and resource utilisation.

Prior experience within this sector is not a requirement, however, understanding of NHS organisations and Primary Care in the context of the NHS is desirable. You will be provided with full training, close peer support and professional development to help you succeed in this varied and exciting role.

The successful candidate will contribute to the implementation of the ICB Medicines Optimisation Strategy and workplan to achieve high quality, safe, evidence based and cost-effective prescribing.

Main duties of the job

The key focus for this role will include:

- Providing leadership, support, and line management to the Sussex Medicines Optimisation Pharmacy Technicians in your place base

- Delivering medicines optimisation projects, mainly in primary care but extending across

the local health economy

- Supporting the development and delivery of medicines optimisation strategy through the

Area Prescribing Committee

- Ensuring work is underpinned by a strong governance framework

- The development and provision of timely and relevant intelligence based on robust data

- Actively seeking opportunities to communicate with stakeholders on medicines optimisation issues

The post holder will be able to work agilely as part of the organisations Smarter Working programme. This may include, but is not limited to, home and NHS Sussex offices around the county, though the post holder will be expected to travel within Sussex and neighbouring areas as required.

To apply for this position, you will need to be a registered Pharmacy Technician and on the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) register. Evidence of qualifications are required to be shown as part of the recruitment process.

The Sussex CCGs are updating the Medicines Optimisation Strategy currently, and this will describe how we are going to improve population health through the promotion of high quality, cost-effective use of medicines.
