Through collaboration with local stakeholders, the Medicines Optimisation Team is responsible for enabling the delivery of safe, cost-effective, and evidence-based medicines usage for the 1.2 million residents of Devon. The team is highly valued by local GPs and healthcare teams and has an excellent record of delivery against national and local targets.
You will work as an integral member of a dedicated team of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and support staff to support the appropriate investment in medicines in Devon. Successful candidates will be able to draw on a broad range of abilities, including excellent clinical knowledge, and exemplar communication skills.

We are also exploring the possibility of providing a number of small satellite sites (in Plymouth and north Devon, for example) that colleagues will be able to access, and we continue to embrace the benefits of agile, hybrid working. Your work-base will be discussed and confirmed with you as part of the interview process
Main duties of the job
Pharmacy teams based in primary care play a key role in the delivery of the NHS long term plan and medicines optimisation goals. NHS Devon has, for many years, recognised the value of having both pharmacists and pharmacy technicians supporting GP practices, so there is an expectation that this post holder will build relationships and work closely with Primary Care Networks and their pharmacists, as well as other system colleagues to support the delivery of national and locally agreed medicines optimisation priorities.
In return for your commitment, enthusiasm, and professionalism, we can offer a friendly and supportive environment. We promote skill mix in the workplace and aim to recognise key strengths of individual team members. The post provides an excellent opportunity to gain experience and knowledge of delivering many facets of medicines optimisation in primary care and the wider Devon system.
The successful candidates will be required to travel across Devon for this role
