Job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic, experienced Pharmacy Technician to work as a Medicines Optimisation Technician as part of the Medicines Optimisation Team. Applicants should be registered as a Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC and be able to demonstrate excellent organisational, influencing and time managements skills.
You will work as an integral member of a dedicated team of pharmacists and pharmacy technicians responsible for implementing high quality, cost effective prescribing initiatives.
The ICB has, for many years recognised the value of having both pharmacists and pharmacy technicians supporting GP practices and believe their roles enhance and complement each other so there is an expectation that this post holder will work closely with Primary Care Networks (PCNs).
The successful candidate will be able to prioritise workload, show a degree of flexibility, build key relationships and be confident interacting with a wide range of healthcare professionals and patients. Candidates will be required to travel to the allocated GP practice(s) and very occasionally to other office bases in Devon.

Main duties of the job
- Work on an agreed programme in GP practices within Devon working closely with GPs, other practice staff and members of the primary healthcare team in supporting the development and application of high quality, safe, cost effective, rational, and evidence-based prescribing.
- Work and support on agreed projects and initiatives across Devon as required.
- Support practices and designated localities / areas to implement the medicines optimisation agenda.
- Promote awareness of medicines management and optimisation issues.
- Undertake agreed pieces of work in GP practices which could include completing audits, medication changes and communicating directly with patients as required.
- Monitor performance of designated practices in relation to the agreed medicines optimisation agenda.
- The role supports the business in driving transformation as well as value for money in planning, commissioning, and service.
- The post holder will undertake reporting and analysis of information to support delivery.
