The Interface and Formulary team is based within the wider Medicines Optimisation team and there will be additional opportunities to learn and collaborate with other members of the team.

We are interested to receive applications for both full and part-time working with a minimum of 18.75hours. Please note you must be a GPhC registered pharmacy technician to apply for this role.

Main duties of the job

The role of Medicines Optimisation Pharmacy Technician - Interface and Formulary involves contacts with multiple partners within the Integrated Care System (ICS) including GP practices, Hospital and Community Trusts - involving both clinical and non-clinical staff.

You will play a crucial role in the maintenance of a system wide medicines formulary, work on defined projects to drive innovation and support cost-effective, evidence-based use of medicines.

The post holder will build trusted professional relationships as a key part of the role to support the introduction of new medicines, robust formulary management and the production, management and implementation of local guidelines to deliver medicines optimisation initiatives.

You will use knowledge of publications developed by NICE or NHS England such as Technology Appraisals, clinical guidelines, low priority prescribing, and self-care and data from multiple sources to identify and make positive changes to prescribing across the Interface.

Matrix working within the Medicines Optimisation team to answer medicines queries by providing key advice on medicines to colleagues across the ICS.

The role is varied and may also involve developing policies, training and facilitating communication and learning across the Interface to support the delivery of best value use of medicines for the Norfolk and Waveney population.

About us

Health and care services in Norfolk and Waveney are working closely together to further improve services and provide more joined-up care for local people. In Norfolk and Waveney, we have already achieved a lot by working in partnership to improve health and care outcomes. These changes have been made possible by different organisations - NHS hospitals, GPs, mental health and community health services, local councils, care homes and social workers, voluntary and community organisations and others - joining forces to agree and plan for local people's needs.

Norfolk and Waveney Integrated Care System (ICS) includes a statutory Integrated Care Partnership (ICP), and an Integrated Care Board (ICB) called NHS Norfolk and Waveney. This partnership and organisation dedicated to making sure that organisations work together for the benefit of our residents, staff and communities is an important step change, helping to create positive differences to local people and joining up health and social care. This is the culmination of many years of effort to build partnership working across the NHS, local authorities, the third sector and patient groups.
