Job summary

Cancer Alliances are key to affecting the transformational change needed to achieve world-class cancer outcomes for their population as set out in the Cancer Taskforce strategy. The further development of the SYB ICS Cancer Alliance within the SY Health and Social Care Integrated Care Board is fundamental to securing an operational delivery model that is compliant with guidance and quality standards.

This post will support the Project and Programme/workstream Manager for Clinical Effectiveness and Performance and other leads within SYB Cancer Alliance to achieve the objectives for projects they are assigned.

The work of the Project Implementation Officer will support multiple projects across the Cancer Alliance, as we deliver cancer pathway improvements and research and innovation initiatives, with administrative and PMO tasks as directed by the Project Manager.

Interviews are expected to be held on 15th September 2023.

Main duties of the job

The role will have the opportunity to lead on projects and initiatives across the Cancer Alliance including Clinical Effectiveness and Performance and Personalised Care workstreams.

It is a role within which an individual can develop project management skills, working with senior members of the Cancer Alliance and with clinical teams across providers to define, develop and implement improvement actions which span site specific cancer pathways.

The post holder will work as part of the core Cancer Alliance team to support defined projects of work which will help to ensure that all people affected by cancer across the geography have access to consistent, safe, responsive and high-quality cancer services.

This post will ensure that there is adequate project support provided to the Clinical Delivery Groups and the Programme lead to deliver designated pieces of work. The post holder will work with cancer teams across South Yorkshire & Bassetlaw to support them with transformation in practical ways, where needed and requested.

The post holders main duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Project Support/Management
  • Supporting the Project Manager, Workstream/Programme Manager and Leads, working closely with all members of the Cancer Alliance team, to support the programmes priorities and associated projects.
  • To be responsible for coordinating and support delivery of projects through their lifecycle: - This will include:

- Contributing to highlight reports and providing regular updates of progress,flagging areas of risk and monitoring with the Cancer Alliance Project manager and relevant stakeholders

- Updating, monitoring and reporting of agreed project plans, action plans and project dashboards as appropriate. Maintaining project folders, files and records.

- Updating and contributing to project management templates and link to PMO processes.

- Arrange, administer and attend workstream, CA, project and task and finish group meetings, taking minutes and communicating with meeting attendees before and after meetings as required

- Using own initiative to oversee elements of the project plan.

- Proactively maintain document management, ensuring documentation is uploaded methodically and projects are using version control and filing standards.

- Take on leadership of specific tasks and project elements and ensure these are delivered to time and within identified budget

Communications and key relationships

  • Managing communications with service user representatives in collaboration with the SYB Cancer Alliance Engagement and Communications Team.
  • Effecting communication with internal systems and external partners regarding updates, initiatives, meetings etc. to ensure understanding of timescales, key messages and project plan.
  • Providing communication updates about the projects of work to the Cancer Alliances Engagement and Communications team to feed key information sharing mechanisms including e-bulletin, newsletter and the Cancer Alliance website.
  • Assisting in the development of presentations for internal/external communication or education purposes.
  • Working closely with the Project Manager - persuade and encourage stakeholders from across the footprint to engage with the Cancer Alliance teams work and communicate with a wide-ranging set of internal and external
