Job summary

The primary care team is looking to appoint a part time (30 hours per week) Senior Primary Care Development Specialist covering the Wolverhampton Place on a 12 month fixed term contract whilst the substantive postholder is on secondment.

This role will work with GP practices to support their joint working and development into mature PCNs, facilitating continuous quality improvement and transformation.

The role will also be key to ensuring primary care has a strong provider voice within the developing local placed based Integrated Care Partnership (ICP).

Main duties of the job

As the role will work both at place and system level excellent communication skills are essential, together with a good understanding of general practice and primary care networks.

Job description

Job responsibilities

  • Connect GP practices and PCNs in one of the four places with system partners and other support resources as part of the day to day placed based teams.
  • Spread learning and good practice across groups of practices.
  • Undertake presentations to GP practices and PCNs in one of the four places as required.
  • To collaborate and work in partnership with Providers in delivering system-wide transformational change of key priorities.
  • Participate in relevant internal and external working groups/projects, services and initiatives to provide, information and analytical advice and expertise.
  • Develop and implement data collection systems that will provide accurate and timely data.
  • Present information and issues, explaining highly complex issues, to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. For example at Integrated Care Partnership Boards/ PCN groups on performance/ new developments and initiation of commissioned new services.
  • Contribute to performance improvement, taking a lead for identified areas where agreed. For example supporting practices to undertake CQC inspections and the improvements required thereafter.
  • Provide coordination of and participate in relevant internal and external working groups and provide project advice, expertise and support where requested
  • Work with members of the place based and corporate primary care team to investigate the causes of any variance from target/plan and proactively contribute to the implementation of solutions.
  • Management of a risk and issues tracking mechanism and its proactive resolution and escalation processes.
  • Facilitate GP practices and PCNs in one of the four places to undertake workforce analysis and planning to develop a workforce strategy

  • Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level qualification or significant experience of working at a similar level in specialist area.
