Job summary
The Head of IT is accountable for the delivery all primary care and corporate IT services for Nottingham and Nottinghamshire ICB.
The post holder will be a highly qualified, experienced leader and will have full corporate responsibility and accountability for all IT activities within Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
Main duties of the job
This post will provide leadership, financial and contract management and external and internal communication skills to ensure the ICB's needs are met in the most cost-effective and consistent manner.
The post holder will be responsible for the IT budgets and lead on the procurement and performance management of services provided by the Nottinghamshire Heath Informatics Service.
The post holder will have an excellent understanding of the management of business-critical IT systems. They will be the link between the ICB and the wider ICS Digital Notts Team, with responsibility of aligning primary care and corporate plans with the overall ICS digital strategy
The post holder will work directly with Practices and partners to motivate and drive forward the requirements, identifying the solutions available for enabling contractual requirements that have a digital and IT dependency. They will be responsible for outlining the details of what is needed from a customer perspective to form discrete work packages or project requirements that can be successfully delivered.
About us
The NHS Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Integrated Care Board (ICB) was formedon 1 July 2022.
It is responsible for the strategic commissioning and delivery of NHS healthcare services for a population of 1.2 million people and covers Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.
The ICB is an integral partner of the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Integrated Care

The ICS and ICB Communications and Engagement team serves the Communications and Engagement needs of both the ICB and the ICS, acting as an exemplar of joint working and streamlined delivery. All individuals will have an identified base but travel and cross-working between the ICB and ICS partners is expected for all roles.

- Responsible for Managing the contract with NHIS for the provision of IT services to Primary Care and Corporate users. Lead and support operational escalations, identify and support areas for continual service improvement assuring quality and value of IT service delivery.
- Responsible for financial planning and oversight of annual capital and revenue spend.
- Responsible for leading on cyber security assurance, representing the interests of primary care at regional cyber security boards; managing cyber risk within primary care through engagement and education of cyber security within primary care and corporate.
- Responsible for IT leadership in corporate business continuity planning and execution.
- Responsible for chairing the monthly primary care digital steering group and quarterly primary care digital forum,
- Represents the interests of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire ICB at regional and National NHS England Groups
- Leading of the development of Strategic IT plans, providing a link from local strategic needs to the overall ICS digital strategy.
- Providing IT thought leadership at all strategic groups, committees and meetings, ensuring digital and IT are fully represented and are central to strategic development within localities and places.
- Analysis of highly complex data in order to define the scope of transformation programmes and priorities across both Primary Care and the ICB.
