Job summary

The Advanced Analyst for Population Health Management Evaluation and Outcomes is part of the newly formed System Analytics and Intelligence Unit (SAIU). The main aim of the SAIU is to place information and data at the heart of decision making within the Nottingham and Nottinghamshire Integrated Care System (ICS).

This role works within the Population Health Management team and across the SAIU with a purpose of providing expert information, intelligence, analysis, and insight in support of a variety of subject areas, as prioritised by the SAIU workplan.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties:

  • work with project, programme and PMO managers to help define logic models relating to transformation, identifying the key inputs, activities, outputs and outcomes
  • work with other members of the SAIU, and provider colleagues, where relevant, to ensure that appropriate baseline data is available and data collection in place to allow monitoring of delivery
  • support the analytical lead to evaluate key strategic initiatives
  • through this support, contribute to the development of the ICS Outcomes Framework and the implementation of this across the transformation programmes, ensuring health inequalities are considered.
  • Analyse complex datasets from a variety of sources
  • share their skills, knowledge and experience with other members of the SAIU to ensure a consistent approach
  • Carry out evidence based literature reviews to identify best practise and impactable interventions.

There will be an opportunity in the role for training in data tools such as power BI for data sharing and visualisation, and in analytical techniques for monitoring and evaluating health outcomes improvements. This will be supported by a development programme within the SAIU.

  • Ensuree that high quality analytic input is provided to the priority ICB transformation programmes, as determined by the SAIU
  • Support the implementation of a local evaluation framework to allow effective decision-making, including the development of new and existing tools, e.g. logic models, ROI calculators, QALY/DALY calculators
  • Consider the monitoring of health inequalities in the evaluation of all transformation initiatives
  • Ensure that ensure appropriate baseline data is available and data collection in place to allow robust monitoring of delivery of quantitative outputs and outcomes; work with PMO colleagues to avoid duplication and to triangulate this data with monitoring of key activities and achievement of key milestones
  • Develop excellent relationships and support effective communication between all relevant stakeholders both internal and external. This might include analysts in other health and care organisations, project, programme and PMO managers, finance managers, clinicians etc.
  • Gather, analyse and interpret complex information, including both quantitative and qualitative, from a wide range of sources taking account of confidentiality and the limitations of the data used. Draw on the knowledge and expertise of other analysts within the SAIU and the wider system to broaden analytical input and improve the quality of work produced.
  • Present findings of complex investigation and analysis and recommendations in a clear and intelligible form as presentations or written reports, suitable for a wide range of lay and professional audiences.
  • Participate in relevant meetings, providing information advice and support where requested.
  • Provide relevant training for system colleagues, either via structured sessions, or through co-production of project documentation.
  • Effectively manage a number of projects simultaneously and prioritise workload appropriately.
  • Deputise for the Senior Analytical Lead PHM and Health Inequalities Transformation and Evaluation, as required.
  • Extracting, collating information of various types & formats, which could be from different sources.
  • Analysing and interpreting complex data to produce detailed, concise reports, suitable for formal presentation to clinicians and managers within the ICB.
  • Loading data into SQL databases to allow SQL querying and R based analysis
  • Providing advice & support to staff on the use of information and statistics made available to them and to communicate highly complex statistical/analytical information to non-statistical/analytical staff in a user-friendly manner
  • Contribute to the wider work around developing the local system data and knowledge infrastructure by improving data quality where possible, identifying data gaps, ensuring that any new data sets are standardised and aligned with wider local requirements, that any new data flows are into a centralised data warehouse environment, and accessible to all relevant analysts, and ensuring that any code sets, definitions or coding scripts produced by the analyst are available for reuse and replication by other members of the SAIU and, where appropriate, the wider system.
