We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated Named
GP for child/adult safeguarding, with initiative and drive who can work as part
of a team and a system to ensure and promote the safeguarding and wellbeing of children,
young people and their families living in Kent and Medway.
The Named GP will take a professional lead to support
general practice (including Unscheduled Care services and Out of Hours), to
meet their responsibilities to all age safeguarding. The successful candidate
will provide strategic safeguarding leadership for NHS Kent and Medway
Integrated Care Board (NHSKMICB) exhibiting excellent leadership and communication
skills and will support all safeguarding activities, to ensure NHSKMICB meet
their safeguarding statutory responsibilities regarding children and adults.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will lead GP safeguarding
initiatives, contributing to strategic planning of service development in Kent
and Medway; this also includes working with the designated safeguarding leads
in the Integrated Care Board. The Named GP provides advice and support on GP
matters in relation to safeguarding Children. The Named GP will be the lead
clinician for safeguarding children and young people in General Practice and
contribute to the strategic planning of service developments and improvements.
The post holder will promote good professional practice within general practice
and provide advice and expertise for colleagues, their staff and be an advocate
for GP involvement in all aspects of child and Young People safeguarding.

patients and their families.
The Named GP
for safeguarding is a statutory post which supports the ICB to meet their
safeguarding responsibilities. The post will support local GPs and is a vital
source of advice and support to the ICB, the Local Authority, NHS England and
the Safeguarding Partnerships and Boards regarding safeguarding within General
Practice.
Key roles of
the Named GP include provision of safeguarding support and advice to clinicians
in Primary Care where the issues may be particularly prevalent and/or complex
and promoting good professional practice within Primary Care.
This post will
play a key role to the ICBs by providing GP input into Local Child Safeguarding
Practice Reviews, Safeguarding Adult Reviews and Domestic Homicide Reviews.
The post holder
will work with other safeguarding colleagues across Kent and Medway and will
play an active role in peer support with other Named GP colleagues.
The post holder will lead on specific safeguarding
agendas, as part of portfolio working, ensuring the ICB and wider health
economy fulfil all requirements under the Safeguarding Accountability and
Assurance Framework (SAAF) and the intercollegiate documents.
