Job summary
The Lead Midwife for Maternity Transformation Programme - for Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Maternity Transformation Programme is required to provide clinical expertise and supportto the programme. The post holder will be working across the Local Maternity and NeonatalSystem Partnership for Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent.
The post holder will be required to play a vital role in supporting the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent Maternity Transformation Programme which has been established to oversee the implementation of the recommendations of the national maternity review, 'Better Births: Improving outcomes of maternity services in England - A Five Year Forward View for maternity care', the NHS Long Term Plan, Ockenden recommendations, requirements in the Three Year Maternity and Neonatal Delivery Plan 2023, and other maternity and neonatal reports as they arise.
Main duties of the job
This person will complement the existing role holder and have responsibility for ensuring the continued implementation of the Maternity and Neonatal Transformation Plan alongside implementing learning from high profile reviews into maternity services such as the Ockenden report, East Kent, etc.
The successful candidate will provide shared leadership on the programme, providing strategic leadership for all aspects of the plan across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent and will build and maintain strong working relationships with out of area partners where many mothers choose to give birth.
They will be a key member of the Team whose overarching goal is to drive forward quality and patient safety improvement. The post holders lead, and recruit where necessary, a small team within the Local Maternity and Neonatal System Partnership (LMNSP) for Staffordshire and Stoke-on- Trent, including midwives, a project lead and administrator.
The post holder will be working within the Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent ICB and across the ICS.
The post will be home based but because of the wide geographical area, applicants will need access to a car for travel across Staffordshire and Stoke on Trent if required, and further afield in the West Midlands for key meetings. Occasional national travel is also a possibility. The ICB has implemented an agile working framework with an expectation that the majority of time is spent working from home.
