An exciting opportunity has arisen for a suitably experienced and motivated individual to join the Chief Nursing and Therapies officer's team as the Associate Director - Safeguarding. You will join our senior clinical leadership team and be a champion of this dynamic portfolio whilst having the skills to engage colleagues across the organisation in meaningful safeguarding activity. This is a significant, high-profile role which offers a unique opportunity to be part of shaping health and care across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent. We need a talented and experienced senior nursing leader with a strong understanding of the safeguarding agendas who will operate with presence, dynamism and energy to lead system partners to share and deliver our ambitious plan and create a fully mature, thriving ICS with a strong place-based approach to delivery and local commissioning. You will also play a key lead role in a number of projects which will enhance safeguarding across Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent ICS.
To be successful you will need to be highly organised, innovative, creative and passionate about safeguarding and have the experience, drive and enthusiasm needed for this complex but rewarding role
Main duties of the job
You will have a strong leadership back ground with a strong understanding of Safeguarding and be a forward thinking, enthusiastic and motivated Nurse, Midwife or AHP with a passion for safeguarding as well as learning and improving outcomes. We are looking for someone as passionate as we are about supporting our colleagues to provide the best care and experience possible to our patients, with the ability to drive improvement at ICB, ICS and system level through partnership working. The right person will have effective presentation and highly developed communication skills, alongside effective report writing and decision making skills. On behalf of Chief Nursing and Therapy Officer, oversee delivery of the ICB statutory Adult & Children's safeguarding functions and statutory reviews. They will be the first point of contact for statutory partners (Local Authorities and the Police) and be able to communicate and liaise with regional Safeguarding leads.

The Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent NHS Integrated Care Board (ICB) is responsible for planning functions; managing the NHS budget and arranging the provision of health services in the geographical area.
Location Home based/hybrid working (most of posts).
Travel on occasions to a Hub location with at least 1 days notice
New starters are expected to collect IT equipment, from offices in Stoke-on-Trent, and if based at home are required to have appropriate desk/chair/ relevant equipment in compliance with DSE regulations
Posts at Band 8c and above, will take part in the On-call rota, flexible over 7 days, supporting the System Control Centre, with full training provided.

- At least five years' experience in a senior nurse leadership roll with evidence of a minimum of two year's specific safeguarding experience
- Experience of working in an NHS or other health organisation at senior level in relation to safeguarding
- Proven track record of strategic planning with NHS and partner organisations
- Previous experience of working in a collective decision making group such as a board or committee or high level awareness of board level working
- Experience of imparting advanced specialist/complex safeguarding knowledge and skills to Boards and Senior Management Teams
