Job summary
Please note: at this stage, the role is open only to colleagues currently employed within Kent and Medway NHS Trusts, the Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board (ICB) and Medway Community Healthcare. Nursing vacancies are also open to Student Nurses and Newly Qualified Nurses.
Now is the time to be part of a healthcare transformation. The new NHS 10-Year Plan puts community care at the centre of service delivery--shifting resources closer to where people live and promoting prevention over hospital admission.
As a member of a community-based NHS trust, you'll be at the forefront of this change. Work in integrated neighbourhood teams, delivering joined-up care alongside GPs, mental health professionals, social workers, and voluntary services. Benefit from new roles, clear career pathways, apprenticeships, and personalised development support.
The plan also brings new workforce standards: improved flexible working, mental health support, safe workplaces, and strong protections against discrimination. With greater investment in underserved areas and a focus on reducing health inequalities, your work will have local impact and national importance.
Community trusts are leading the way in digital innovation, using tools like virtual wards to reduce admin and improve patient care.
If you're passionate about making a difference, this is your chance to help deliver a modern, inclusive, and community-focused NHS.
Main duties of the job
Please note, this vacancy does not meet the criteria for skilled worker sponsorship. Therefore, we are unable to accept applications from candidates that cannot provide documentary evidence of right to work in the United Kingdom.
We are seeking a motivated Band 4 Nursing Associate to join our Community Nursing team based at New Romney Clinic. The service operates from 08:00-22:00 with rotational weekend working, supporting patients across the Marsh Primary Care Network. Each team covers a defined geographical patch, enabling strong working relationships with local GPs, care homes, Social Services, voluntary organisations and other partners. Alongside home visits, the District Nursing Service also runs local clinics for patients requiring specialist nursing input. The Nursing Associate role is an important addition to our skill mix, strengthening our ability to deliver safe, effective and holistic care in the community.
This is a highly rewarding role where you will be supported to develop the full range of clinical skills required. Your work will include wound management, end-of-life care, medicines administration and bladder and bowel care, alongside wider duties that contribute to keeping patients safe and independent at home. You will be supported by senior staff and the wider team, making this an excellent opportunity for those wishing to move into a community setting.
