We are looking for a Senior Dental Officer to join our team. You'll be based at Dover Health Centre but may be required to work at other sites depending on service needs.
Kent Community Health NHS Trust Dental Services is commissioned to provide Paediatric and Special Care Community Dental Services, which includes Oral Health outreach programmes and epidemiology. Services compliment general and hospital dental services and involves multi-agency working to provide a range of quality dental services. The range of services includes Sedation, Special Care Dentistry, Paediatric Dentistry including GA theatre sessions, Domiciliary care, Bariatric and Homeless services.
The service is commissioned to provide extended operating hours which may include early mornings and late evenings e.g. 8am to 8pm and providing a Saturday morning clinic.
Main duties of the job
Your main duties will be:
- Local clinical leadership, supervision and clinical appraisal of DentalOfficers, Dental Therapists and Hygienists as identified in annualappraisal plan.
- Specific service role allocated by the Clinical Director e.g. teaching and training, involvement in Dental Quality Group, leading on audit.
- Responsible for paediatric and special care clinical caseload
- Undertake appropriate clinical supervision and ensure effectivemanagement of caseloads across teams.
- Provide clinical care to identified priority groups including those patients with special needs referred into the Service.
- Provide emergency and routine dental care as required
You will have some leadership duties including complaints handling, supporting the DNTL and PM, providing assurance to the assistant dental clinical director and clinical director, interpreting data and contributing to report writing.
You will also ensure clinical policies, protocols and SOPS are embedded and support the Practice Manager to ensure that clinical staff adhere to:-
- Service delivery standards
- Clinical standards and national guidelines of relevant professional bodies
- Trust Infection Control policies and clinical guidelines.

- Experience in carrying out treatment under intravenous sedation and inhalation sedation
Desirable
- Postgraduate qualification in conscious sedation in dentistry
