Job summary

The Children's Therapies Team is an integrated therapies team providing Speech and Language Therapy, OccupationalTherapy, Physiotherapy, Specialist Nurse Advisors and Care Co-ordinators to children 0 - 19 years within Kent CommunityHealth NHS Foundation Trust.

This vacancy is for 22.5 hours a week (0.6Wte) within the East Kent Children's Therapies service.

The postholder will work3 days per week within the Augmentative and Alternative (AAC) pathway supporting both early years and school agedchildren in a range of environments including home, clinic and education settings.

The successful applicant will join other AAC Clinical Leads across Kent working closely together to support the AAC pathway.

The post holder will provide support and supervision to other clinicians in the team managing children with AAC needs.

The post holder will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and with specialists including the Kent & Medway Communication & Assistive Technology (KMCAT) team to assess and support children with AAC needs.

Main duties of the job

Supporting and leading on the AAC pathway across Kent

Leading on service policy and clinical care pathways across KCHFT in these specialist clinical areas

Ensuring team members are working to agreed care pathway within these clinical areas

Providing effective supervision, training and support to SLTs to enhance their CPD

Reporting and advising on development requirements in these specialist areas to colleagues, Professional Leads, Team Leads, Locality Clinical

Manager and Head of Service.

Participating in reflective practice and on going learning within these clinical fields

Carrying out delegated line management of staff

Managing a complex /specialist clinical caseload across 0-19 years

  • Evidence of Post Graduate Specialist qualifications relevant to specialist area of practice

Experience

  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in area of practice Experience of leading and managing teams Experience of developing policy and service development plans with practical experience of change management.
