The Neurodevelopment Coordinators (Admin) provide essential administrative support to the Neurodevelopment Team, ensuring the smooth running of referrals, assessments, and patient records. These roles manage high volumes of information, coordinate waiting lists, and help reduce breaches by keeping processes efficient and timely. Acting as a central point of contact for families, professionals, and partner agencies, the coordinators ensure clear communication and accurate documentation. By handling these critical tasks, the posts enable clinicians to dedicate more time to patient care, education, and health promotion within the community.

Main duties of the job

  • Manage and process referrals, ensuring accurate data entry and tracking.

  • Maintain patient records and documentation in line with service standards.

  • Coordinate appointment schedules and monitor waiting lists to reduce breaches.

  • Provide administrative support to clinicians, enabling focus on patient care and health promotion

Qualifications and Professional training

Essential

  • NVQ Level 3, AS or A Level or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrable working knowledge of digital systems, ability to use Microsoft package including word, excel and outlook .
  • Evidence of continued professional development within last 12 months.
  • Information Governance Training

Desirable

  • SEND awareness or willing to attend local courses offered.
  • Customer service or communication skills training (e.g. handling sensitive enquiries)
  • Training in record management systems (System one, Cerner etc )

Experience and Knowledge

Essential

  • Have a good understanding and ability to work well within patient record databases and navigate waiting lists.
  • Previous experience of working well under pressure and with sensitive enquiries. Experience of handling sensitive and confidential information in line with data protection requirements.
  • Awareness of safeguarding responsibilities when working with children and families.

Desirable

  • Previous experience of working in the NHS, experience of liaising with families, professionals, and external agencies in a customer-facing role.
  • Basic knowledge of neurodevelopmental conditions (e.g., Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Developmental Coordination Disorder) and their impact on families.
  • Awareness of the importance of integrated working across health, education, and social care.
  • Knowledge of local Wirral pathways for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
  • Awareness of national guidance and best practice in neurodevelopmental services.
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by families navigating ND pathways.
