Job summary
The role of Specialty Doctor requires experience in the provision of Sexual Health services. The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team providing integrated Sexual Health services, including provision of all methods of reversible contraception and management of sexually transmitted infections.
Main duties of the job
To assess patients, advise on and provide reversible methods of contraception including LARC methods to patients requesting contraception.
To be a confident fitter of IUD and SDI methods of contraception. Ideally the successful candidate will have experience of using local anaesthetic where needed for IUD fittings that require cervical dilatation.
o To assess patients, advise on and screen for asymptomatic sexually transmitted infection including HIV, syphilis and hepatitis and to manage common symptomatic presentations to a sexual health service, including vaginal discharge, urethral discharge, genital ulcers and genital warts
Management of uncomplicated sexually transmitted infections including chlamydia, gonorrhoea, trichomonas vaginalis, mycoplasma genitalium, genital HSV and genital warts.
o To utilise professional skills in all relevant areas of contraception and sexual health care, including counselling and referral for unplanned pregnancy.

- Basic Medical Qualification registrable in UK
- Full registration with GMC
- Vocationally trained and accredited GP with MRCGP
- Faculty qualifications: DFSRH , LoC SDI, LoC IUT
- Trained in cervical cytology

- Faculty Registered Trainer status
- Attendance at a STIF course
