Job summary
The position is an Advanced Nurse Practitioner within the DVT service providing assessment, diagnoses and management of DVT and anticoagulation issues.
Main duties of the job
To use highly developed skills and knowledge in order to take a full medical history, undertake clinical examination, implement investigations and interpret all results in order to deliver the most appropriate care.
To provide a Nurse led screening, investigation and treatment service for patients with suspected and/or proven DVT.
To provide high standard of specialist, evidenced based care in accordance with individual needs.
To provide expert advice and clinical practice.
To provide care in a variety of settings based on patient need e.g. clinic, home, care home.
To prevent unnecessary hospital admission.
To work collaboratively with colleagues, healthcare professionals and other agencies to develop services and quality of care delivered.
To provide a comprehensive DVT/PE follow up clinic on a daily basis.
To participate in the education and development of other staff.

Essential
- Current Registration with NMC First level nurse RGN
- Educated to degree level or equivalent
- Mentorship or teaching qualification
- Clinical Examination skills at masters level
- Non- Medical prescribing qualification (V300)
- Evidence of relevant recent professional development
- Leadership course
- Intermediate Life support training (ILS)
Desirable
- Clinical diagnostic skills at minimum of degree level
- Management course or qualification
Experience and knowledge

- Substantial experience in management of anticoagulation
- Experience in assessment and management of VTE
- Experience in the autonomous management of complex patients within an Urgent or Primary Care setting.
