Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Bank Sexual Health Nurse to join the Sexual health Service - a dynamic frontline service within Wirral Community NHS Foundation Trust.

Sexual Health Wirral offers a fully integrated and accessible service to patients throughout Wirral. The service is delivered across sites in Birkenhead and Wallasey and is run in partnership with the Royal Liverpool Hospital and is open 6 days per week

Main duties of the job

The post will cover various shifts between the hours of 8am-8pm Monday to Saturday.

Qualifications & Training

Essential

  • Registered General Nurse
  • Degree or equivalent experience
  • Contraception and reproductive health module (ENB 901/R71 or equivalent post registration diploma/degree level module)

Desirable

  • Teaching/Assessors Qualification
  • Independent prescribing qualification i.e. V300

Experience & Knowledge

Essential

  • Recent experience within Contraception and Sexual Health or GUM Clinics
  • Recent experience and knowledge of Fraser guidelines / child protection and vulnerable adults issues/safeguarding/child sexual exploitation / FGM
  • Recent experience of complex partner notification, management of patient results,

Skills & Attributes

Essential

  • STI screening - history taking
  • Swab taking
  • Venapuncture
  • Cytology
  • Cryotherapy
  • Issuing and administering medication using PGDs
  • Recognised cytology training and competent to perform cervical cytology
  • Accreditation for fitting/removal of sub dermal implants or working towards
  • Leadership Skills
  • Standard computer skills and experience of using an Electronic Patient Record (EPR)
  • STIF Course - Foundation/advanced level
