We currently have an exciting opportunity for a part time B6 Specialist Occupational Therapist to join a well established OT Team within the Community Adult Neurodevelopmental services. Derbyshire Community Health Services (DCHS) are working in an alliance with Derbyshire Healthcare Foundation Trust (DHcFT) within the Adult Neurodevelopmental Services/ Learning Disability Services.
We are seeking to recruit a OT who is enthusiastic & motivated to work with the Learning Disability Population in North Derbyshire, you will have experience as an OT & be registered with the HCPC .
You will have undertaken some post qualifying training relevant to your profession. We are hoping to recruit an OT with experience of working with LD services or an OT with good transferable skills.
This is a substantive post of 22.5 hours
The post will be within the North Derbyshire Locality.. The main base is at Ashgreen in Chesterfield but WFH/Hybrid working is possible depending on the service need. Due to the nature of the role the post holder will need to be a car driver or be able to demonstrate they will be able to travel within the North Derbyshire area to carry out their work duties.
Main duties of the job
You will use your professional knowledge and skills to follow the Occupational Therapy process, gathering and analysing complex information about the LD population you are working with within a variety of settings. You will be able to communicate sensitive information to people, undertake a range of OT assessments and set collaborative goals with them and the people who support them. You will design and implement OT interventions in the specialist field of LD and monitor the person's progress as you work with them. You will use outcome measures to evaluate your OT input and you will work with the person and those around them to support a safe discharge from our community LD service.
You will be able to work autonomously and as part of a wider multi - disciplinary team, including colleagues in the Social Care and voluntary sectors to ensure a holistic person - centred approach for the people we work with. You will manage your own caseload and contribute to the OT duty triage system as part of the OT duty process with the guidance of your manager and OT leads in your area. As a Band 6 Occupational Therapist in an MDT, you will be expected to always demonstrate leadership behaviour.
You may be asked to supervise Band 5 OTs and support staff and ensure that they have access to relevant training.
You will be a student practice placement educator (or willing to work towards this) and ensure that the team offers regular, high-quality student placement opportunities.
