Job summary

We want to do things differently to enhance psychologically informed care in Derbyshire.

DCHS Health Psychology will host a new opportunity funded by transformation money, supported by our Integrated Care System, to tackle a clinical priority to support people living with diabetes to live longer and healthier lives.

The post will co-develop & co-deliver a psychosocial pathway for adults with diabetes, grounded in a commitment to reduce health inequalities.

We are looking for someone with relevant experience in health psychology and diabetes to develop services with the support of our Clinical Director.

We have a motivated and supportive steering group, brimming with ideas to help you get started. We are looking for someone who shares our values and enjoys thinking outside the box to lead this exciting ICS development.

Main duties of the job

  • Embed & develop the draft referral pathway
  • Provide specialist advice, consultancy and training in psychological skills for staff and services working at levels 1-3 of a stepped care pathway for diabetes.
  • Provide diabetes focussed training & supervision for IAPT practitioners developing expertise in diabetes care
  • Supervise members of the diabetes MDT
  • Support evaluation & data gathering and working with the independent research team who will report on this project
  • Hold a clinical caseload and provide patient care (direct and indirect) for up to 3 days per week in agreed priority clinics as agreed with the Diabetes Delivery Steering Group
  • Clinical Consultation role for the DCHS Diabetes Structured Education

System-wide provision includes Tier 3 Specialist Weight Management, Diabetes Education, Post Covid Psychology and our Psychological Insights Team who focus on public health.

  • Leading Diabetes Psychology service and to JUCD
  • Primary responsibility for overseeing operational delivery of diabetes psychology services

Qualifications

Essential

  • Good (2:1 or 1st) honours degree in Psychology/Eligibility for Graduate Membership of BPS
  • Doctoral qualification in Clinical Psychology or equivalent Current registration with HCPC (Practitioner Psychologist)
  • Full driving licence/ Ability to travel extensively as required to meet the requirements of the role
