This post offers the opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to gain valuable experience within palliative care by working as part of our multidisciplinary team.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will work predominantly within the inpatient unit and will be fully supported by the multidisciplinary team. This Specialty Doctor post is a substantive appointment - the postholder will work 1 day (or two half days) per week (Monday to Friday 9-5.) Working days and hours are potentially flexible so we are keen to hear from all interested candidates. This post comes with a requirement to undertake non resident first on call duties (supported by 2nd on call Consultants at all times). You will be supported initially with this and will only join the full rota once induction complete.

To work with the Consultants and other medical staff to look after the 16 inpatients at Priscilla Bacon Lodge and to provide occasional cover for the Living Well centre/ community team as needed.
Non-resident first on call duties (1 in 5) to provide cover for inpatients at PBL at weekends, bank holidays and from 5pm-9am weekdays. Doctors are expected to do a full ward round on a Saturday and then review patients as needed on Sundays. They are expected to attend the ward to assess patients who deteriorate unexpectedly or need medical review in an emergency. Full support will be given initially. The post holder is also expected to review the fast track continuing health care patients out of hours in event of emergency.

- Basic medical qualification MBBS or equivalent
- Full GMC Registration with licence to practice.
Desirable
- MRCP/ MRCGP part 1
- Diploma in Palliative Medicine
Aptitudes

- Enthusiasm for service development and teaching.
Desirable
- Prepared to work in shared office space.
- Management skills.
