Job summary

An opportunity has arisen to cover the maternity leave for the Clinical Education Lead in NCHC. The post manages a team of clinical educators and extensive knowledge about clinical education, preceptorship, apprenticeship support, clinical education tariff and clinical skills teaching is essential for this post. There is a need for the applicant to be able to support the team during periods of changes and to have this knowledge readily from the commencement of this role.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will lead the Clinical Education team responsible for line managementactivities including but not limited to absence management, budget approval, recruitmentand retention.The post-holder will lead on development activities that ensure the delivery of effectiveeducation, competencies, clinical training and development of the clinical workforce withinNCH&C. They will have specific leadership responsibilities for the pre and post registrationagenda, Preceptorship including onboarding programmes, the Clinical skills training for allstaff as required, Health Care Support Worker education and development and competencybased assessment.The post holder will be an enthusiastic individual with a passion for leadership and educationwho will actively support the development of a learning culture where research, clinicalpractice, coaching and education are seen as integral to clinical practice and patient safety.

Main Duties & Responsibilities1. To lead the Clinical Education team and be responsible for line management activities including but not limited to absence management, budget approval, recruitment and retention.2. The postholder will be required to lead the delivery of the clinicalcompetencies outlined in NCH&Cs clinical competency and skills framework, through the creation, updating and facilitation of learning packages and workshops.3. The postholder will ensure that the requirements of NMC,HCPC and other professional bodies are adhered to and that evidence is collated for the annual Quality Education Audit.

4. Demonstrate highly developed specialist clinical education knowledge,underpinned by theory and experience, and be a resource for cliniciansacross NCH&C particularly in specialist areas.5. To lead on the development of new education including clinical skills training in response to the local strategies and the Integrated Workforce Plan, beresponsive to urgent and sometimes at short notice requests for trainingneeds.6. To lead, coordinate and facilitate the implementation of an organisational standard for preceptorship and lead on the delivery of the programme to preceptees.7. Lead on the delivery of clinical skills training to meet the NCH&Cs Clinical Competency framework to both new and existing apprentice staff, and other clinical staff and ensure training packages are up to date and based on best evidence based practice.8. To co-create the training needs analysis for continuous professionaldevelopment and CPD clinical funding plan with the Head of ClinicalEducation and Research and be responsible in monitoring and marketing the CPD portfolio and support learners accessing it.9. Facilitate the implementation of Collaborative Learning and other placement models, which support student / learner experience and learning opportunities within placement.10. To lead on placement provision for pre-registration learners, apprentices and post graduate learners including the collation and monitoring of placement experiences and submission of placement hours as required and requested.11. To facilitate meetings with academic leads and managers to ensure apprentices and trainees are meeting relevant professional and academic standards and proficiency development.12. Lead on the collation of feedback from learners and create reports on feedback received and actions taken. To assist in evaluations to inform the provision of future appropriate education and learning programmes pre and post graduate.13. Provide support with the Clinical Education team to Placement Supervisors /Assessors, Practice Educators and Preceptors to make decisions relating to student placements, and competence and fitness for practice.14. Lead on the facilitation of drop in support sessions and extra clinical sessions to support apprentices and learners in practice.15. Support the development and implementation of innovative and creative projects with the HOCE&R.16. Responsible for putting in place the support required for all new apprentices and new unregistered staff to acquire the Care Certificate and be supported through their Apprenticeship programme.17. To assist the temporary worker service with clinical advice, interview availability and revalidation leadership.18. To provide staff with appropriate information, advice and guidance relating to the learning opportunities provided within the Trust19. To receive and appropriately log any issues or concerns raised by staff and help to ensure that these are resolved effectively and within an appropriate timeframe.20. To prepare accurate and precise reports, both verbal and written and be responsible for maintaining accurate and comprehensive information including statistical information relating to clinical education pertaining to the clinicaleducation agenda.21. To base training on relevant national and local information, policies, and guidelines with research based practice. keeping up to date with newdevelopments occurring nationally and regionally.22. Identify opportunities to maximise benefits and effectiveness of new information and information technologies23. Lead on the development and maintenance of the Nursing Clinical supervisor and assessor and AHP Practice Educator databases.24. Work in partnership to ensure that education is embedded in clinical practice across disciplines and with stakeholders.25. Be able to present highly complex, sensitive or contentious information tolarge groups. This could include the sharing of material or facilitation ofdiscussion points requiring the use of developed skills such as persuasionand motivation, this may be combined with challenge where there are barriers of understanding to overcome or, where the audience need advice to be guided to a point of acceptance by negotiation.26.
