Job summary

Are you a forward thinking Occupational Therapist looking to move into the exciting area of specialist amputee-rehabilitation? If so, an opportunity has arisen within the Specialist Rehabilitation Team based at the Colman Centre for Specialist Rehabilitation in Norwich.

Our team provides specialist amputee-rehabilitation for patients who are referred to us from across Norfolk and Wavney.

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, well motivated Occupational Therapist , into this part time post working 3 days a week on a fixed term basis for 6 months.

This role involves completing access visits and home visit across using the Trust's pool vehicles across Norfolk a full driving license is required.

You will work as an integral part of the ward team and be responsible for providing high standards of rehabilitation care to a group of patients with specialist needs, while supporting a safe and timely discharge.

Main duties of the job

You will be required to deliver evidence based care to a high standard. Excellent communication skills and a supportive approach to team working within a rehabilitation setting are key to the success of this service.

An ability to structure your own learning supported by the team gaining new knowledge and skills to benefit yourself and the service will be vital. You will be working with families and colleagues in complex discharge planning.

Excellent organisational and interpersonal skills are essential as is the need to be cheerful and courteous. Good computer skills or the ability to learn will be required for this role as we are using SystmOne to record our patient interventions.

  • Knowledge of additional specialist areas through in-house training & short courses
  • Post registration clinical experience of patients with neurological conditions
  • Awareness of alternative communication strategies for patients with neurological conditions

Desirable

  • Experience with running groups
  • Training/clinical experience in: postural management, splinting for abnormal tone, cognitive rehabilitation, wheelchair prescribers course.
  • Experience of managing challenging behaviours
  • Experience of working with patients with tracheostomy
  • Experience in delivering specialist bespoke equipment to highly complex patients
