Job summary

NCHC has a number of multidisciplinary roles within a modern, new build therapy led unit in Norwich opening in 2024.

We are looking for a highly motivated Housekeeper who would like to join our exciting journey, committed to help deliver exceptional patient-centred care with the co-ordination of all patient facilities and services to ensure a clean, safe and comfortable environment for 48 patients at NCH&C's Norwich Community Hospital site.

You will be a part of this new team and will play a pivotal role to ensure delivery of cleaning, stores, ordering, catering, monitor quality standards and work closely with others to ensure deficiencies are rectified. Together with other specified tasks, meet the needs of patients to supportthem back into the community and, in this role, we can offer you the opportunity to play a significant part in creating a reablement culture within a brand-new unit.

Main duties of the job

  • To work as an integral part of the Willow Unit Team.
  • Assist with the co-ordination of all patient facilities and services in the ward area to ensure a clean, safe and comfortable environment.
  • Maintenance of the environment.
  • Ensure a high standard of cleanliness is maintained in all areas and that they adhere to the control of infection guidance.
  • To support the provision of safe, good quality food and drinks to meet the individual needs of the patients, as determined by the Unit Lead.
  • Ensure that equipment is in good working order at all times, liaising with the maintenance services.
  • Ensure the environment complies with current health and safety regulations.
  • Be responsible for ordering all necessary supplies using the EROS system.

  • The main element of the role is to ensure the delivery of cleaning, nutrition/catering and minor maintenance, together with other specified tasks to meet individual patient needs as determined by the Unit lead and supported by the B4 Housekeeper.
  • Working with cleaning contractors, to ensure the high standards of the above are delivered, escalating any concerns which are identified and not rectified in a timely manner to the B4 Housekeeper.
  • Establish relationships with patients, families and friends and help them to access the services provided by our unit and signpost to other services as appropriate.
  • To be active in induction of new staff, in relation to familiarisation with the environment and housekeeping processes as appropriate.
