Job summary
This exciting new post has arisen from additional investment and the development of an innovative nurse-led pathway for medication for children/young people with a learning disability. The service offers a joined-up approach for children/young people, reducing the need for psychiatric intervention with a commitment to STOMP/STAMP agenda and principles.
We are seeking an inspirational individual to provide expert nurse leadership, advice and clinical consultancy to nurses and multidisciplinary teams for medication and nursing pathways across the LD CAMHS Team (Starfish) and ADHD nursing services. This post would ideally suit someone with a passion for working with children and young people and their families and who has expertise in learning disabilities and mental health, experience of nurse prescribing, and is collegiate, innovative and flexible in their approach.
You will join our hardworking, compassionate, and flexible multi-disciplinary Starfish and ADHD teams based within an "Outstanding" CQC rated NHS Trust. The post holder will work across Norfolk, including Norwich, Kings Lynn, and Great Yarmouth. The base is negotiable and flexible working is supported, including agile/home working where relevant.

Job Purpose
The Consultant Nurse LD CAMHS will be responsible for the leadership of the Clinical Nurse Specialists and Advanced Nurse Practitioners in Children and Young People's Learning Disabilities Child and Adolescent Mental Health service (LD CAMHS), and ADHD Nursing Team related services within the trust. They will be part of the senior leadership team for LD CAMHS and Children's ADHD Nursing.

- Provide leadership on the implementation of relevant regional, national and corporate initiatives related to nursing and patient care in relation to Children and Young people who access LD CAMHS or ADHD services.
- Enhance the quality of experience of children/young people and their families by providing high level, evidence based, training and supervision to develop nursing staff and multi professional staff knowledge and skills.
- Act as assessor for those staff undertaking training for V300 qualifications.
- 50% of the Nurse Consultants time will be committed to working with children/young people and parents/carers, providing highly specialised and expert intervention, advice and treatment to service users, their families and the wider MDT.
- Provide expert clinical intervention with children/young people, their families, and wider communities, maintaining a caseload of the most complex and challenging cases, providing expert knowledge and skills regarding learning disability, mental health and/or neurodevelopmental disorders including ADHD.
- Provide expert and supportive consultative clinical advice and expertise in person, via email or consultant telephone advice for non-medical psychotropic prescribing across the LD CAMHS and ADHD pathways informed by highly developed specialist knowledge underpinned by theoretical knowledge and experience within mental health, learning disabilities and ADHD.
- Lead the development and monitoring of nursing linking with internal and external stakeholders in particular local higher education institutes and national and regional nursing networks.
- Ensure the evidence base and standards of best practice inform the training, development, delivery and improvement of nursing. Identify and initiate relevant research and audit programmes to inform improvements in nursing practice.
- Encourage and support the nursing workforce to share good practice within the organisation and out with, regularly contributing to professional journals and conferences and to in-house training programmes.
- Work with the Regional and National Team to take forward quality and safety initiatives.
- Participate in investigations and inquiries as required.
