Job summary
We are looking to recruit a Band 6 nurse, or an experienced Band 5 looking to step up into a Band 6 role to support the Neurodevelopmental Service (NDS).This is a part time post for 25.5 hours per week, based at Norwich Community Hospital.
The NDS offers diagnostic assessment and a range of post diagnostic workshops to support the lives of children and young people who have suspected Neurodevelopmental disorders such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
The post holder will have a good knowledge base of autism and ADHD with an ability to be involved in complex diagnostic decision-making as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
As the care coordinator for a small caseload, working with members of the multidisciplinary team the post holder will plan and book assessments for children/young people on their caseload, be the point of contact for the family and work with the family though the assessment process to the point of feeding back the outcome of the diagnostic process and discharge.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will have an expert knowledge base of Neurodevelopmental conditions, complex decision-making skills and clinical competencies for expanded scope of practice.
The post holder will complete and interpret assessment tools to inform diagnosis and effectively treat/initiate treatment/offer advice and interventions for children and young people with neurodevelopmental conditions and will be expected to use a range of assessment skills, including formal psychometric tests, interviews with parents and carers and observations in a range of settings to inform the planning of assessment.
Following an initial period of training and shadowing you will be expected to work independently in a variety of settings.Up-to-date Safeguarding knowledge is essential.
