Job summary

We're looking for an exceptional Band 5 or 6, Hand Therapist to join our team. Providing a high quality, patient-centred and innovative service, this role involves assisting the team with the treatment of patients with a wide range of MSK hand conditions. We provide comprehensive in-service training as well as peer supervision and dedicated problem solving slots.Flexible hours are an option for this role. Work locations will vary on need across Norfolk localities.We look forward to meeting you at interview.

Main duties of the job

You will contribute in the delivery of high standards of health care to patients with MSK hand conditions in clinics providing specialist MSK assessment, planning, implementing and evaluating packages of care. To manage own caseload which, depending on experience, may include highly complex patients.

The MSK team at Norfolk Community Health and Care NHS Trust (NCH&C), comprises of Orthopaedic Clinical Specialists, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists and MSK Assistant Practitioners.We also provide First Contact Practitioners from within our overall MSK structure. Job responsibilities

  • Undertake comprehensive specialist assessment of musculoskeletal patients with a variety of routine presentations using clinical reasoning skills and using investigative, analytical and clinical reasoning skills, and inform the development of a differential diagnosis.
  • Formulate and execute individualised occupational therapy/hand therapy management and treatment plans of patients including those with routine MSK conditions, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team, other agencies and the patient, utilising a range of treatment skills.
  • Assess patients holistic needs, communicating routine MSK related and sensitive information to patient and carers as to their assessment, diagnosis, prognosis and treatment plan.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Diploma or 1st Level Degree in Occupational Therapy or Physiotherapy
  • Current HCPC Registration

Desirable

  • BAHT level one qualification
  • Clinical Educators Course

Experience

Essential

  • Experience of working within the NHS (either as a student or post registration)
  • Broad range of core clinical experience at pre-registration (or if applicable post registration)

Desirable

  • Experience of working within hand therapy specialism
  • Rheumatology Experience
  • Orthopaedic Experience

Other

Essential

  • Must hold a full and valid UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle to be able to travel independently to a variety of working bases
  • Genuine desire to gain experience and commitment to the role
