Job summary
The position of Lead Specialist Nurse
Children and Young People in Care to join and lead an experienced Children in Care team
has become available in both Warrington and Halton.
These are
specialist leadership roles requiring an enthusiastic, caring, and dynamic
nurse with a high level of professional skills. You will need to
demonstrate a strong commitment to children and young people in care whilst
leading a comprehensive health service for our local population. The successful
candidate will be a strong advocate and be at the forefront of improving the
quality of service delivery and helping to shape future service provision
including overseeing
statutory compliance for IHAs and RHAs and other statutory data including
KPIs as determined by the Cheshire and Mersey ICB.
You will be part
of the wider safeguarding children team and have access to clinical,
safeguarding and restorative supervision and management 1:1s. The wider safeguarding team achieved the highest scores
within the Trust, in the 2022 Staff Survey, across all the elements and themes
of the NHS People Promise with improvement on scores from 2021.

Main duties of the job
To provide leadership to
a team of Specialist Children in Care Nurses
To develop and work closely
with all key stakeholders which includes all multi agency partners.
Ensure compliance with
our clinical governance framework, motivate colleagues, champion service users
safety and dignity and drive continuous improvement in interventions for children
and young people in care.
To work closely with the
administrative team to develop and manage systems for accurate data collection.
To be the health professional
representative on the local foster panel
To work closely with
the virtual school to ensure children and young people in care not in education
are supported and provided with tailor made specific education.
To represent the service
and children and young people in care at a variety of stakeholder meetings including
the corporate parenting board.
To work closely with the
children and young people in care including care leavers at the Warringtons Children
in Care council listening to their voices and views on shaping the development
of the service.
To support the
community paediatric service and Named Doctor for children in care in the
development of the IHA clinic.
To provide statistical data
with analysis for children in care for quarterly KPIs including a supplementary
report which captures the achievements and challenges for the team.
To attend and provide
high quality analysis at strategy meetings.

To be the caseload
holder for a small number of young people with complex health issues, social
issues or cross border challenges due to the regular change of placements.
Undertake Review Health Assessments for
children and young people.
Use a high level of interpersonal and
communication skills to receive and convey highly sensitive information to
young people regarding their health.
Attend relevant multi agency meetings, panels
and forums which includes foster panel, emotional health and wellbeing board
and the children in care council.
Maintain regular contact with the local
health team undertaking health assessments.

standard.
Ensure that health assessments are completed
within the statutory time scale.
Maintain contemporaneous, accurate,
high-quality records in accordance with Trust policy and within NMC guidelines.
Provide statistical health data and reports
for children and young people in care e.g. Performance Indicators for CYPS and
the Cheshire and Mersey ICB - Warrington Place.
Contribute to service development through the analysis of statistical
data, activity performance and audit.
