Job summary
This is a 52-week apprenticeship programme
of education consisting of 50% taught theory and 50% practice that will lead to
a PGDip Specialist Community Public Health Nursing Degree in School Nursing.
Successful candidates will be offered a permanent contract of
employment and guaranteed progression to a School Nurse role with the Trust
subject to successful completion of the SCPHN Apprenticeship Programme.
Successful
candidates will study with leading degree apprenticeship provider MMU and will be expected to be able to travel to both their
place of work/placements that will be situated in the Warrington area and the
University. Therefore, a full driving licence and
use of a vehicle are essential.

In
order to be considered for the post in addition to evidencing their nursing
degree certificate all candidates need to be able to provide evidence of their
maths and English qualifications
(Applicants must be able to
evidence Level 2 English and Maths, prior to starting the course. This could be
Functional Skills Level 2 or GCSEs grades 9 - 4/A* - C or equivalent
qualification)
Main duties of the job
Students must successfully complete
the 50% taught theory and 50% practice elements of the programme before they
can register and practice as a Specialist Community Public Health Nurse.
Throughout the Specialist Community
Public Health Nursing programme, the student must experience practice in a
range of different settings and areas of practice to enable them to develop
understanding of the breadth of Specialist Community Public Health Nursing
practice.
To develop an understanding of the
principles of working in partnership with others to prevent the occurrence of
needs and risks related to health and well-being.
Students must be able to demonstrate
a good knowledge of local and national policies and how to apply them in everyday
practice.
