Job summary

To be responsible for the assessment, treatment and management of patients.

To provide advice and education to healthcare professional and carers.

The post involves working closely with the Multi-disciplinary Team.

Main duties of the job

To undertake comprehensive examination and assessment of patients including those with diverse presentations/multiple pathologies; using clinical reasoning skills and manual examination techniques to provide an accurate clinical diagnosis.

To develop and deliver an individualised treatment programme based on the above

To hold responsibility for and organise own caseload within delegated areas of the service with ongoing support from a senior therapist.

To delegate responsibility as appropriate e.g. assistants and clerical staff.

To work as a lone practitioner, with access to a senior physiotherapist. To organise appointments, manage daily workload, paper and computer administration tasks, and making and receiving patient related telephone calls.

To provide and maintain accurate and up to date patient records and to communicate assessment and treatment results to the appropriate disciplines in the form of letters, reports and entries onto IT systems, in accordance with the Trust and CSP guidelines.

To be actively involved in the provision and collection of accurate statistical information

To participate in evaluation of the service. To assist in implementation of new working practices.

To comply with the organisational and departmental policies and procedures and to be involved in the reviewing and updating as appropriate.

To use communication skills:
