An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Occupational
Therapist/Physiotherapist to join Warrington Wheelchair Service based in the
community at Europa Point, Warrington.
As a new or experienced Band 5 therapist, this post
will provide you with the opportunity to gain new skills and valuable clinical
experience in the specialist area of postural management, seating, and mobility.
This is a developmental post with progression to a
Band 6 upon meeting the criteria within the Band 6 job description and upon the
successful completion of the competency framework specific to Wheelchair Services.
Our forward thinking and friendly team consists of a Band 7 Team Lead, 2x
Band 6 Specialist Wheelchair Therapists, a Wheelchair Technician and a Therapy
Assistant. The wheelchair service is in-house for its repairs and maintenance
and is supported by an experienced team of wheelchair technicians.
The role is full-time, (although
part-time would be considered) is varied and interesting and provides
opportunities to work with a multi-disciplinary team in a wide variety of
settings including clinics, patients homes, schools, day centres and nursing/residential
homes.
You should be a team player, be innovative, have excellent communication
skills and the ability to work flexibly.
Main duties of the job
You will apply Occupational Therapy/Physiotherapy
principles to provide knowledge and skills in the assessment, prescription, provision
and maintenance of mobility, posture, and supportive seating equipment to users
in Warrington. Users are both out-patients and those living in their own homes.
To be responsible for using clinical
skills in the assessment of adults and children, and in the provision of basic/intermediate
wheelchairs with associated posture management and pressure management
accessories.
To prioritise, plan and
deliver a clinical caseload.
To apply evidence based,
specialist knowledge and skills.
Provide a key role in partnership
working with patients, carers, the MDT, and wider statutory, private, and
voluntary sector services.
To support team members
in ensuring the effective functioning of the team.
To actively participate
in quality improvements.
To provide effective student
training and development.

Clinical
