Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated individual to
join the community catheter care team in Warrington as a specialist Band 5 catheter
nurse.
The post holder will work in the catheter care team to deliver care
along agreed clinical pathways both supporting early discharges and preventing
hospital admission.
The role will include providing specialised, highly skilled care to
patients requiring all aspects of urinary catheterisation care.
They also work with the team leaders delivering support, advice and
training to community nurses, in secondary care and to GPs.
The core services hours are 8am-7pm, 7 days per week.
Main duties of the job
Management
of difficult indwelling urinary/supra-pubic & intermittent catheters within
the community
Rapid
response element to role involves a 2-hour response
Teaching
of intermittent catheters to patients in clinic and within own home
Management
of (TWOC) service Trial without catheter of Service
Liaising
with urology department on a regular basis
Use of
Entonox gas for difficult catheters
Clinic
& community work involved
- To support the
training /skills and competencies of other community nurses with difficult
catheterisations
