Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 6 Occupational Therapist
to join the Childrens Occupational Therapy service based in the Child
Development Centre, Widnes, Halton.
The successful post holder
will have a passion for working with children and young people with physical,
developmental conditions or complex needs. The post is suitable for an
Occupational Therapist who has experience of working in a paediatric setting or
working with adults and looking to transfer skills and experience to a younger
population.
The team deliver services to
children and young people across the borough of Halton (Widnes and Runcorn) is located off the M62 and north of the M56 next to the town of
Warrington. The vacancy is a full-time
role 37.5hours however, the team would welcome applications from Occupational
Therapists who may wish to work on a part time or job share basis. Bridgewater
Community Healthcare NHS FT has a well-established flexible working policy in
place to support a positive work-life balance.
The Child Development Centre
offers free parking. Mileage and toll
bridge expenses can be claimed for duties requiring a crossing of the bridges.

Main duties of the job
Job Purpose:
To provide Occupational Therapy
intervention to children (aged 0 to 19 years), with a variety of conditions.
To work
across the geographical areas within the borough.
To manage
a defined caseload using evidence based/client centre principles to access,
plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
To
regularly supervise Occupational Therapy students on practice placement.
To
provide leadership and clinical supervision for other staff as delegated.
To
continue own professional development.

Clinical
- To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your own work and to maintain overall accountability for delegated duties of treatment to junior staff for patients on your caseload.
- To use a wide variety of Occupational Therapy assessment methods to identify clients who require Occupational Therapy intervention.
- To prioritise referrals and caseload using local guidelines/care pathways.
- To ensure interventions take place in the most appropriate setting, e.g. hospital or clients homes
