Job summary

To promote high quality patient / client care by leading on staff clinical skills development and provide assurance of a clinically competent workforce. The post holder would be required to work within the clinical area to maintain clinical credibility in area of clinical practice and support the implementation and embedding of national guidance / evidence-based practice by leading the development of clinical guidelines / polices and supports the quality improvement agenda including research and clinical audit.

The Clinical Practice educator is accountable to and supports the Clinical Lead in the delivery of safe, effective and high-quality services by promoting excellence in clinical practice, strengthening care quality standards and leading education and professional development initiatives across teams.

Main duties of the job

To make an effective contribution to the Trusts vision, strategic objectives and key work programmes.

To provide visible, credible professional leadership within the clinical area

To foster an effective working relationship with staff and key stakeholders to ensure a holistic approach to care, improve outcomes and reduce inequalities

Assists in the implementation of evidenced based practice through the development of clinical skills.

Coordinate delivery of the preceptorship programme for newly registered clinicians, working closely with Practice Education Facilitators for pre-registration students.

Support practice assessors / supervisors for post registration students

Support development and delivery of clinical skills training.

Participate in the design and implementation and evaluation of current/new programmes of education/training.

Work collaboratively with education colleagues to support clinical education and training across the community, is embedded within clinical practice.

Similarly work in collaboration with the education and development team to identify / deliver training programmes to meet clinical skills requirements. The post holder will support practice assessors / supervisors for post registration students and coordinate preceptorship in the borough.
