Job summary
We are excited to advertise the Network Lead for
Oral Surgery post for our Network. The post is mainly clinical but there will
be allocated time for managerial activities.
The appointee will be responsible for providing
clinical care at specialist level and leadership across the Network in oral
surgery. This person will be the Trust's internal clinical expert and reference
point for oral surgery services and will work with the Clinical Directors and
Operational Managers in each area to ensure that patients receive the very best
care from the Trust.
Reporting professionally to the Lead Clinical Director you will assist with any clinical
matters relating to oral surgery and undertake duties as delegated by the Lead Clinical
Director. You will attend relevant
external and internal clinical networks, where necessary initiating and
maintaining those networks. You may also be responsible for specialist
trainees.
This role is largely clinical but also involves
ensuring the clinical effectiveness of the oral surgery service in the Trust.
It will be based at one of our clinical sites in C+M. Because of the size of
the network we have a degree of flexibility as to where the successful
candidate will work- we could offer a base in St Helens, Warrington, Chester,
Widnes or Sandbach to suit.

Clinical
The clinical activities undertaken by the post holder will be those necessary to comply with the oral surgery contracts that the Trust holds.
Communication
Communicate effectively with the following:
- Colleagues regarding complex clinical issues relating to oral surgery and/or in difficult situations.
- Clinical teams and peers in relation to oral surgery in leadership situations.
- Operational managers and corporate services teams in the North West Community Dental Service
Management & Leadership
Provide clinical leadership to oral surgery services operating across multiple sites.
Undertake appraisals, personal development plans and job plans for other dentists who provide treatment to oral surgery patients.
Provide advice about:
- The legislative framework (for example in relation to GDC Standards) to support on such matters to other members of the dental team.
- Specialist registration and the provision of specialist and specialised care.
Work with:
- Corporate support services in the Trust, for example in dealing with complaints and incidents.
Manage:
- External relationships with senior managerial and clinical colleagues, including Operational Managers in the Trust and Commissioning Teams.
