We are looking for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Dietetic Assistant, to
support our Childrens Team which currently consists of 12 staff, including
dietitians/dietetic assistant/dietetic associate practitioner/admin.
The Dietetic Assistant (DA) plays an important role within the team and is
supported at all times by a clinician. They are expected to work to agreed
policies, guidelines and pathways to ensure quality patient care and patient
safety. Specific responsibilities will be given by the team and the DA will be
expected to manage their time and these responsibilities effectively.
We pride ourselves in supporting each other through peer support and clinical
leadership team. We work closely with community colleagues and commissioners,
All staff are provided with a laptop and smart phone for hybrid working/remote
access to SystmOne.

Main duties of the job
The
Dietetic Assistant will assist Dietitians with the assessment and ongoing
monitoring of patients, and supports families, carers and colleagues to
implement care plans successfully. They support patients on a one-to-one basis
via telephone reviews/face to face activities, and conduct admin duties such as
ordering tube feeding equipment and oral nutritional supplements.
We work in a variety of settings including schools and nurseries, patients
homes and clinics and involves direct communication with a range of people and
agencies. Due to the hybrid nature of our service, telephone consultations can
be done either at base, other LCH venues or working from home.
Full training in all areas of the role will be provided including management of
children with Cows Milk Protein Intolerance (CMPI) and reviewing stable home
enterally fed children (tube feeding).
This post is part-time 18.75hrs per week.

The post holder will be providing
direct and indirect patient care independently but with support available from
a supervisor within the clinical area. In doing so, they will support the
assessment of service users and implementation of programmes of care delegated
to them by the appropriate staff member ensuring that they practice within their
