Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Stoma Team. We are looking for someone who is passionate about promoting stoma care to existing stoma patients in their home (with the potential for clinics). Providing stoma advice and support to improve patient care post-surgery and existing patients with their stoma care.
The successful candidate will work with the community stoma team, together with the community neighbourhood teams and will form part of the Continence Urology and Colorectal Service (CUCS). As well as providing stoma skills teaching to small groups of community health care professionals. To achieve this, you will need to be highly self-motivated and have excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You will also have to have the ability and confidence to work autonomously, under pressure and often alone and adhere to the safe lone worker policy.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be reviewing existing stoma patients via home visits, assessing their needs and providing the appropriate advice and support to improve their stoma care. The successful candidate will have their own case load of patients and be allocated an area of Leeds to cover however, you will be expected to work city wide at times.
You will be providing education and training to the wider multi-disciplinary teams. You will be part of the community stoma team and will form part of CUCS (Continence, Urology and Continence Service). You will report into the lead stoma nurse. You will also have the ability and confidence to work autonomously, under pressure and often alone and adhere to the safe lone worker policy.
We will provide on-going support, advice and learning opportunities within the field, with the support of the Band 7 and all other team members.
