Job summary

We deliver transformational models of forensic, physical and mental healthcare into police custody suites. We care for some of the most vulnerable people in society who are taken into custody suites. Operating with independence and autonomy, your actions can be lifesaving when you consider the physical and mental challenges of people who often have a high dependency on drugs and alcohol and exhibit difficult behaviours.
This role requires full police vetting, and it is essential that you can travel independently across the area and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. You need to be flexible in order to deal with a wide variety of presenting conditions and situations and be able to work under pressure in a challenging and fast-paced environment.
This is a 24-hour fast paced service requiring flexibility and rostered shift work. 8 week flexible rota. Shift times 06:45-19:00 18:45-07:00
Main duties of the job
The role will include;
- Conducting clinical assessments to identify if patients are fit to be detained in custody.
- Continued provision of care identified during assessment including the management of long Term Conditions, Minor illness and injuries and Emergency treatment.
- Mental health and substance misuse assessments and management
- Forensic sampling including road traffic offence bloods
- Providing substance misuse therapies whilst in custody
- Acting as clinical shift leave
- Collaborative working, onward referrals and sign posting to external agencies
- Maintaining detailed and accurate records to ensure the health, safety and welfare of detained persons held in police custody.
- You may be requested to obtain forensic samples and assessments for fitness to be detained/ interviewed in a community setting which may include hospitals and patient homes etc.
- Full training will be provided along with an ongoing development and support programme
