Job summary
The
Integrated Children with Additional Needs (ICAN) service is looking for a
passionate registered nurse with previous experience of working with children
and young people, practicing at band 5 or 6 level, to work primarily within the
constipation and daytime wetting pathways. You will have experience of caseload
management including safeguarding and multi-disciplinary working. You should
display excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills.
We are offering two exciting roles, one full time secondment and one part time
permanent position.
You will work within the service offer which covers both the constipation
pathway as well as delivering our nurse led daytime wetting service. Experience
of working in this area would be highly beneficial. The wider ICAN nursing team
also support sleep, feeding and growth and nutrition.
Main duties of the job
Key
responsibilities include working with children and their families who attend
our Community Paediatric and Neurodisability clinics supporting care delivery
and providing nursing interventions.
You will manage your own caseload of children and young people who require
constipation and daytime wetting intervention. You will work within a team of
nurses, Paediatricians and psychologists across the city. Effective
communication, awareness of when to escalate concerns and recognition of
limitations is therefore paramount to ensure the safety of the children and
young people we support.
You will be committed to achieving the best possible outcomes for children and
young people. You will be responsible for the support, development, and
supervision of students and junior staff, including conducting appraisals.
There is an expectation that you will contribute to the co-ordination and
support of the childrens business unit strategy locally to develop coordinated
pathways.
