Information:

This job is now closed

Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a qualified professional to join the school-age neurodevelopmental (autism/ ADHD) service as a mental health practitioner, up to 3 days a week. A key part of the role will include supporting young people on our waiting list for a neurodevelopmental assessment by developing and delivering pre and/or post assessment intervention programmes. There may also be the opportunity to contribute to the high-quality MDT assessment of school-age children with atypical neurodevelopmental presentations as part of an assessment clinic. Another aspect of the role would be to undertake mental health assessments as required and we are looking for someone who has experience of undertaking these assessments. We are committed to enabling the development of staff through ensuring access to appropriate CPD training and events and offering high quality supervision.

Main duties of the job

You will play a key role in supporting young people who are either waiting for an ND assessment or who have recently received a diagnosis of ADHD and/or autism. This is a development opportunity to shape what this support looks like and how it is delivered. There are also a number of young people who require an assessment while waiting to determine if they need mental health support or intervention in addition to the ND assessment. There will be opportunity to play a key role in delivering all aspects of neurodevelopment assessment clinics offered by CAMHS, including parental interview, structured assessment and observations, liaison with other professionals, contribution to MDT discussions and decision-making following assessment, report writing and feedback to families. The role will be based across the city as well as some home working.
