Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled, experienced and qualified senior clinical lead with specialist knowledge of neurodevelopmental presentations, assessment and intervention pathways to join our innovative, caring and visionary multi-disciplinary neurodevelopmental team in Leeds CAMHS.

This exceptional individual will provide clinical leadership in key areas across the pathway including with partners/commissioners at a local, regional and national level to encourage and embed a needs led approach when working with neuro diverse children and young people; and with the neurodevelopmental assessment team to provide high-quality, NICE compliant assessments of school-age children 5 - 18 years. The ND team is based in South Leeds and clinics are run across the city. The post will be mostly office based with some flexible home working.

Main duties of the job

As the clinical lead, you will be passionate about neurodiversity and have prior experience of assessment/diagnosis and support of children with neurodevelopmental conditions. You will be creative, innovative and decisive, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills; be able to navigate and excel within a complex and challenging context to influence and bring about much needed change. With the ongoing and significant increase in demand for neurodevelopmental assessments and associated wait times, the new role will help us to identify how we offer the best and most efficient service to support neuro diverse children and young people achieve good outcomes.

This will involve supervising and supporting colleagues within the assessment/pathway team and working/consulting with partners across the wider system including schools, targeted service clusters, mental health support teams and organisations from the voluntary and charitable sector to deliver a needs led approach.

The post holder will be responsible for the clinical delivery of services and pathways over a defined specialist area of the organisation. Working closely with the Business Unit Clinical Lead, Professional Leads and Medical leads, the post holder will provide clinical leadership and direction to the identified service area supporting the integration and transformation of service delivery.

They will ensure that high quality and safe services are delivered efficiently and effectively. The post holder will work to professional, operational and regulatory body codes, standards and guidance at all times ensuring that practice is grounded in evidence based theoretical and practical knowledge. 1.4 Ability to make highly complex judgements, including in new or unfamiliar situations by analysing and interpreting a wide variety of complex information and data sources to compare options and to take action as appropriate (this may be clinical or non-clinical judgements

  • Qualification specific to specialist field e.g., clinical psychology, mental health nurse, occupational therapist, psychotherapist, social worker

  • Appropriate statutory professional body registration, e.g., HCPC, NMC, Social Work England
  • Must be willing to participate in any relevant training identified to develop skills required to carry out duties
  • Maintains a portfolio of CPD in line with regulatory body standards
  • Teaching, training or mentorship qualification or experience to an equivalent level
