Job summary
We
are seeking an enthusiastic Psychologist to join a skilled team of Therapeutic
Social Workers, a Clinical Psychologist and Speech and Language Therapist, who
work to support children who are in local authority care, kinship care or on
child protection plans, and care-experienced young adults up to the age of 25.
The distinct contribution of psychology is highly valued within this social
care team, and this role offers variety and opportunity for growth. The post is
ideal for someone who is passionate about working with children who have
experienced adversity in childhood.
This is an excellent opportunity to use and
further develop your understanding of the impact of trauma and early adverse
care experiences on attachment and development and to work systemically with
family and professional networks around a child. The team use a range of theories
and models to inform their work, including Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy,
Theraplay, Systemic approaches, and Psychodynamic models.
Main duties of the job
Your
role will involve:
- Offering psychological assessments and formulation-driven interventions
- Working with young people experiencing emotional and social difficulties
- Conducting neurodevelopmental and risk assessments
- Offering consultation, training and support to colleagues inside and outside
the team
- Supporting service evaluation
- Working with a range of services to best support the wellbeing of young
people
- You are encouraged to offer placements for trainee psychologists
- Dependent on recruitment, there may be an opportunity to supervise an
assistant psychologist within the team.
You
will be supervised by an experienced Clinical Psychologist and supported by
colleagues through peer supervision. The team meet weekly, and meet for a team
development slot once a month. You will also be part of the citywide network of
child Psychologists across Leeds. The group meet bi-monthly, provide
professional support, collaborative learning and additional development
opportunity.

Job Purpose
The post holder will be
responsible for delivering and leading highly specialist clinical care to their
own caseload and service within their speciality area. In doing so, they will
assess, plan, deliver and evaluate patient centred programmes of care ensuring
