Job summary

The Mind Mate Support Team (MMST) is a Mental health support team and are looking for 2 x practitioners to join our team. The MMST commenced in 2020 and is continually expanding to offer early intervention mental health support to children, young people, and their families within all schools, colleges, and education provisions across Leeds.

The service is expanding and developing another team supporting primary and secondary schools and are now looking for qualified nurses, social workers, occupational therapists, childrens wellbeing practitioners (CWPs), Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) with at least 18 months post qualifying experience of working with children and young people with emotional and mental health difficulties to join the growing team.

Main duties of the job

We hope you can add value, contribute to the development and sustainability of this service by:Provide consultation, training, advice, and support to staff in education settings as part of the Whole Setting Approach

  • Provide consultation, training, advice, and support to staff in education settings as part of the Whole Setting Approach
  • Offering high quality early direct intervention support to young people and their families who are experiencing mild to moderate emotional wellbeing difficulties.
  • Supporting and supervising colleagues within the team, support clinical decision making, risk, safeguarding and support trainee EMHPS throughout their training year.
  • Working with multiple services on various sites; liaising with staff; helping to develop pathways; partnership working.

The MMST are committed to supporting continued professional development as this enables us to provide high quality care and service. The following CPD may be accessed as part of the MMST:

  • Trauma Focused Cognitive Behaviour Therapy
  • HEE PG Certificate in Clinical Supervision (EMHP Supervisor Training Course).

Job Purpose

To provide high quality, evidenced based supervision around a variety of presenting issues relating to mild-moderate emotional wellbeing and behavioural needs (including Low Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapy approaches) to Educational Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) within the MindMate Support Team. To supervise and support the application of interventions, and psychological approaches across this team.

The post holder will also be responsible for their own caseload within their speciality area as an autonomous practitioner. In doing so, they will assess, plan, deliver and evaluate patient centred programmes of care to a specialist level ensuring that they practice within their sphere of competence and knowledge. The post holder will work to professional and regulatory body codes, standards and guidance at all times ensuring that their practice is grounded in evidence based theoretical and practical knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

1. Clinical

1.1. Demonstrates a detailed theoretical and practical knowledge of common aetiologies, pathologies, conditions and presentations involving a critical understanding of theories and principles

1.2. Demonstrates innovative and specialist skills to select methods and tools to holistically assess, plan, implement and evaluate in a complex and specialised field of work.

1.3. Demonstrates highly developed physical skills where dexterity and accuracy are important e.g. syringe pumps and infusions, manual treatments

1.4. Makes consistent judgements requiring complex fact analysis, interpretation and comparison of options and ensures clinical reasoning is reflected accurately in case records

1.5. Engages and actively involves the individual and, if appropriate, their family/carer, in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of programmes of treatment and/or care by using person-centred techniques to promote a culture of involvement and empowerment

2. Leadership

2.1. Ensures that a professional service and image is maintained at all time, thereby acting as a role model to all staff

2.2. Provides a leadership style which is underpinned by strongly held values around equality, diversity and openness; effectively builds and maintains relationships with direct reportee(s), management teams and other key individuals across the organisation.

2.3. Manages team and resources on a day-to-day basis in an unpredictable environment that require solutions to complex problems where there are many interacting factors
