Job summary

We are looking for a reliable, experienced, courteous Driver to join the team at Leeds Community Equipment Service. The Service provides daily living and nursing equipment for people to use in their own home. Once the service user has no further use for the equipment it is returned/ collected, cleaned, refurbished and then reissued; new equipment is also purchased.

You will help deliver and collect the equipment to clients across Leeds and also hospital sites using one of our long wheel-based vans. You will liaise on a daily basis with clients/ carers and be responsible for all aspects of vehicle checks, including safe loading/ unloading of the vehicle. You will be responsible for your designated workload and have basic IT skills to use a scanner to record jobs completed etc. The Driver will provide an efficient and professional customer focused support to ensure we provide the right equipment quickly to enable people to live independent and inclusive lives in their own home.

Main duties of the job

You will be joining a small team of Drivers working 5 over 7 days a week on a selection of shifts 8/4, 9/5 and 10/6, including 1 in 4 weekends (8/4.) A professional attitude and experience of working in a customer service environment is essential in this role while having knowledge of transport rules. You will need to be able to work under pressure and unsupervised while out in community, managing your time around the delivery priorities. You will receive full training to ensure you adhere to the Services Operating Procedures. Job Purpose

The post holder will be responsible for their designated workload within their service area with access to support, advice and management from an appropriate senior member of staff. The post holder will work to professional standards and guidance at all times.

The post holder will be responsible for providing and maintaining an efficient and professional customer focused support function to the service users of Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust (LCH) and related providers ensuring discretion and confidentiality at all times.

Key Responsibilities

1. Driver duties

1.1. Face to face and telephone support to service users, colleagues and carers/ relatives routine information.

1.2. Delivery and collection of items to and from various locations, amending delivery route/ sequence as necessary.

1.3.Use computer information systems/ paper forms to receipt own issues of stock, to track equipment and to document own deliveries and collections.

1.4.Ensure all Local Operational Procedures are adhered to. Maintaining safety and security of the building e.g. signing in and out.

1.5 Carry out duties independently without routine supervision, but with someone generally available for reference.

1.6 To maintain appropriate records for audit purposes.

1.7 To ensure fire regulations are adhered to. This may require acting as the nominated Fire Person depending on location and include weekly test of fire alarms and responding to alarms in buildings ensuring compliance with local procedures.

1.8 To provide appropriate cover if required within an agreed area to maintain service provision.

1.9 Complies with the Policies and procedures of the Trust.
