Job summary

The Integrated Children with Additional Needs (ICAN) service are seeking to appoint an experienced, highly motivated and enthusiastic qualified Advanced Clinical Practitioner (ACP) to join our existing multi-disciplinary team. This is an exciting time for ICAN as we continue to develop a seamless service for children and young people and their families. We are proud of all we achieve in the ICAN service and to fulfil our vision we have developed a new advanced clinical practitioner (ACP) role. Hours of work are 0.8 WTE/ 30 hours per week at Band 8a.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for a dynamic, forward-thinking ACP with excellent communication skills, leadership and organisational skills and the ability to motivate and support others through change and service development. Key responsibilities include working towards delivery of the four pillars of advanced practice. The successful candidate will have experience of working within a multi-disciplinary community setting for children and young people with diagnosed and emerging neurodisability including autism and learning disabilities. Experience of assessing children with suspected autism and supporting families post diagnosis as you will be working as a part of our pre-school suspected autism pathway. Knowledge of IT systems including SystmOne, ICE and Datix would support the successful candidate in their day-to-day work.

The post holder will be responsible for delivering and leading advanced clinical care to their own caseload and service within their speciality area. In doing so, they will use advanced specialist skills to assess, plan, deliver and evaluate patient centred programmes of care ensuring that they practice within their sphere of competence and knowledge. The post holder will work to professional and regulatory body codes, standards and guidance at all times ensuring that their practice is grounded in evidence based theoretical and practical knowledge. They will be responsible for developing new and innovative clinical practices responding to emerging knowledge and techniques.

1.6.Responsible for developing new and innovative clinical pathways across the broad health and social care context

1.8.Works to standards of advanced proficiency identified by their professional and regulatory bodies performing clinical treatments/procedures to a highly specialist standard

  • Experience in the specialist clinical field of paediatric neurodisability.
  • Experience of working in community setting.
  • Experience in the supervision and management of other staff.
