Job summary
You will be working within a passionate and enthusiastic Nurse-Led Continence, Urology and Colorectal Service. The team is made up of Clinical Nurse Specialists, Staff Nurses and Assistant Practitioners. As a Senior Nurse your main responsibilities will be the assessment of patients, caseload management and line management. Patients are assessed either in their home or in Leeds Community Healthcare clinic settings. The role requires the successful candidate to travel in and around the city so you must be a confident driver. You will also have the ability and confidence to work autonomously, under pressure and often alone and adhere to the safe lone worker policy.
We will provide on-going support, advice and learning opportunities within the field of continence, with the support of the Band 7s and all other team members. As your role develops there will be opportunity for you to be involved in delivering training.
Main duties of the job
You must be a qualified registered practitioner with the NMC, with experience and understanding of bladder and bowel health, You need to driven and enthusiastic to make a difference to peoples lives; The successful applicant must be able to undertake comprehensive assessments in order to formulate treatment plans developed in conjunction with the patient/carers/supporters.
You must demonstrate motivational skills to encourage and support patients undergoing treatment programmes and self care; be flexible to meet service needs and willing to study to gain the requisite knowledge and skills to improve patients lives. You must have past experience of line management, including undertaking appraisals, 1:1s and clinical supervision. You must also have excellent IT skills and good people/communication skills and be able to communicate accurately and concisely. It is vital that you will be able to deal at times with conflict and heightened emotions in a sensitive manner.
